| Problems with the ways schools
teach typing
Touch-typing is taught far too late, and takes far too
long to learn. Research shows that kids benefit academically from using
the computer at an early age, but the stumbling block remains that their
typing skills lag far behind.
Today's "new" computer typing programs are essentially old
approaches with gimmicks. In addition, many of these programs attempt
too much, requiring reading or word processing skills along with typing.
This bogs down the learning process and produces students who still do
not know how to touch-type, much less do it rapidly. Speed-keyboarding
is the missing skill. It alone boosts productivity for a lifetime.
A new idea
Zoom-Type is radically different. It yields fast, solid results. Zoom-Type
is a powerful breakthrough in teaching touch-typing using the right brain
as well as the left. In contrast to old approaches where letters are acquired
gradually, one at a time, Zoom-Type enlists the right brain to take repeated
pictures of the entire keyboard every time. Letters appear and disappear
all over the simulated keyboard (on the pages of the book, not on an actual
computer), forcing the mind to recall what was seen and where. The musical
finger march trains the fingers to advance plan and to automate the movements
needed in actual typing.
Success
With the Zoom-TYPE method, touch-typing is fully imprinted in the autonomic
nervous system and functions as a natural reflex, in just five days. It
tackles the job of learning to touch-type fast. It is portable which means
classes don’t have to wait for scheduled lab time, or have to work
on actual computers, just to learn to type. They can learn at their desks
or outside under a tree. During subsequent weeks, keyboarding speed soars
through concentrated one-minute typing contests.
Cost
An entire classroom set costs far less than even one computer. Use the
computer labs for actual computer work, not for learning how to type!
A classroom kit includes one Zoom-Type book per student, and one audio
CD per class. The discounted cost (including the one classroom audio CD)
is $17.00 per book, for a minimum class size of 15. (Individual regular
retail is $29.95 per book, for non-school orders)
This sure investment can put the "skill of the future" into
the hands of all your students.
